Beau D'Arcy

President & CoFounder, Breakwater Chicago LLC

Beau D’Arcy is the co-founder, president and chief executive manager of Breakwater Chicago LLC, a developer and operator of water-based tourism and hospitality concepts.  Beau’s role as president of Breakwater Chicago is providing oversight to its executive team, board of advisors, and a host of partners such as architects, designers, general contractors, engineers, public relations professionals and marketers.

Prior to starting Breakwater Chicago, Beau previously built two companies that focused on improving the energy efficiency of households.  Effortless Efficiency, Inc was founded in 2010 to provide a full-service option to homeowners that combined energy audits, general contracting, and data analysis which proved that existing homes could affordably reduce their energy usage by 40% through a specific mix of weatherization, insulation, and lighting improvements.  Heat Wrangler, Inc was founded in 2011 to develop a consumer product that would capture exhaust heat from residential water heaters and redeploy that waste heat into cold water entering the water heater’s tank, thereby improving the efficiency of the water heating system.

Before realizing his entrepreneurial spirit, Beau worked in Corporate Development for the Las Vegas Sands Corporation (NYSE: LVS) where he was a member of the internal team responsible for achieving LEED Gold certification for LVS’s The Venetian Hotel, Resort, Casino property in Las Vegas, NV.  Beau also spent six years at Eli Lilly & Company (NYSE: LLY) in a series of engineering, project management and general management roles, primarily in the challenging environment of parenteral (i.e. injectable) drug manufacturing.

Beau holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineer from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, which has been ranked the #1 engineering school in the nation by US News and World Reports for 11 consecutive years.  He also received a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School where he focused on entrepreneurial and marketing curriculums.
